Roger defeats Del Potro

01.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger took revenge after the loss in Basel last Sunday, defeating Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals in Paris-Bercy.

Roger showed an excellent match and took an early 3-1 lead, enough to eventually secure the opening set. Neither of the players managed a break all the way until the end of the second set, when Del Potro levelled in sets. The decider proved a true fight on the court. Roger took a 3-2 lead with a first break, his opponent did the same right afterwards - but another break by our champ gave him the necessary advantage to book his spot in the semis.

Roger will play Novak Djokovic in tomorrow's semi-final.

until we are faced with them--no-one should EVER be written off or criticised for whatever reason. Nor should they be told to do this or that.
I see it too often in my profession.Give love and support.
Roger I am so proud with the way that you have handled yourself during a somewhat difficult 2013 for you, tennis wise.
As long as you are healthy and playing the sport that you love that is fine by me. You cannot beat everybody--Rod Laver never beat Lew Hoad!
Kindest regards
Margaret

Hello Roger
What a brilliant match between 2 great tennis players, you Roger on fire.
You were free & easy playing varying B/H's, forehands, serve superb, drop shots your tennis masterful for the whole match. Equisite at the net , winning most of your approaches. Mind boggling .Congratulations on the win and wishing the very best for S/F's.
Hopefully, people will learn that we are ALL indivuduals and one never knows what one is capable of doing in difficult situations in ones life,

Yeah, Delpo...you better run...scram! Fed's dialing your number now, Djokovic. You just plan on following Delpo right on off the court, pick up your bag and wave bye-bye. That's right...take a hike, Nole, because Fed's gonna rock your socks off! Yep time to remember EXACTLY who Roger Federer is, and if you are wise, you will never forget it. GO FED GO ! THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE, BABY!

Dear Rogerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr,

I'm aggressive in my words, but let me just remind you that IT WAS YOU, AND ONLY YOU, who broke the Djoker's winning streak before. So, we want to see you thrash the joker's spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please, also hit straight down the line serves!!! Opponents find it difficult to pick them instead of your curved shots which makes angle shots for players. Good Luck!!!

to Federer's #1 Fan: The article is trying to imply that Roger does not condone players taking time off for minor injuries that they can play thru. Andy Murray had surgery that requires a minimum of 6 weeks recovery with no physical activity. So whether or not Roger was foisting mental arrows at his rivals or not is irrelevant and it is a stupid premise for an article. Perhaps Roger is a little critical of his major opponents healthcare choices, but bad journalism is just bad journalism.

Dear Roger...WOOHOO!! that was an excellent win. DelPo helped out with his lack of preparation...sad to see a player waiting for rackets, but funny at the same time. Keep playing within yourself! If someone is playing better...and there are one or 2 who might...take it in stride...on any given day at every tournament you enter you are a threat at your worst. Do your best and forget the rest. Let's have some fun out there!

Such a pleasing game and outcome! Those who try to win by always hitting the ball as strong as they get will find themselves short of other skills, and will have the wear on their bodies early on. You played beautifuly: with self-assurance, and it was clear you would win. BRAVO, ROGER! Discomfit djoke, the flex man, and take the circus/strength blows and turn them back on him. Godbless, luck, and I am glad you have such a good headwind into next year!
