Roger defeats Del Potro

01.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger took revenge after the loss in Basel last Sunday, defeating Juan Martin Del Potro 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals in Paris-Bercy.

Roger showed an excellent match and took an early 3-1 lead, enough to eventually secure the opening set. Neither of the players managed a break all the way until the end of the second set, when Del Potro levelled in sets. The decider proved a true fight on the court. Roger took a 3-2 lead with a first break, his opponent did the same right afterwards - but another break by our champ gave him the necessary advantage to book his spot in the semis.

Roger will play Novak Djokovic in tomorrow's semi-final.

Piano piano as the Italians would say. Step by step. Perhaps to win today was too much of a challenge given your year. You played beautifully and if you continue in this vein, suxccess will come your way Roger. I'm sure.

You have a tough draw in London with Novak and Juan Martin. If you come second in the groups that's an achievement within your grasp.

Not long now until London.

Andiamo! X

Disappointed, but I have to say Roger was a little less intense today, his movement wasn't as smooth as gainst Del Po. It might be fatigue. Credit also to Djokovic for returning well in sets 2 and 3.
On the bright side, it gives him more time to settle down in London.

Allez Roger! This week has been positive irrespective of today's match.

he needs to work on his strategy and his fitness.... he still looks a bit slow on movement...

but most important: strategy. That's why I told you guys he had to get rid of annacone... he sucks!

he needs to work on strategy, strategy, strategy... how can you get broken when you are 30-love???

he needs to secure more points instead of risking....
