Roger defeated by Djokovic

02.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was not able to win his semi-final against Novak Djokovic in Paris-Bercy today, he was defeated 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

Roger started brilliantly, breaking Djokovic early to take a 2-1 lead and later the set. He scored another break in the beginning of the second set, but Djokovic broke right back and Roger even dropped his serve one more time later on, losing the set. In the decider, Djokovic proved the stronger player, converting break-points to go up 2-1 and even scoring another break to 5-2 and eventually winning the match.

Next week, Roger will play the ATP World Tour Finals in London, having made his qualification for the tournament clear just this week.

Shatir - I hope london courts are fast and low-bouncing for slice shots, that's the only way Nadal can struggle to get wins.

It was a strong performance for the first set. RF was clearly superior. Later the same old problems started. Too many unforced errors that actually decided the second set. Could this be mental or physical fatigue? In each successive set things were becoming more and more difficult. For London Roger can certainly qualify to the semis. His chances to win are more if the matches go to 2 sets...

If Djokovic wins tomorrow's match, he will return to no. 1 on Monday.
However, Rafa has to win only 1 round-robin match out of 3 to take the no. 1 rating back. Djoko is also defending full points to the WTF and Australian Open, so any slip up by him will prolong Rafa's no. 1 ranking hold.

Berdych also needs to find his balls when he plays Nadal, he can't continue to be Nadal's whipping boy or beeeaatch.

Delpo's Rosary, that was blessed by the Pope, has been stolen including passport and money. Shame for him. Rafa, although he has an easy draw for the group stage, he is buggered in SF and Final. I hope Gasquet can find his balls and play at the level that we know he can, maybe he can upset Delpo or Nole. I want to see the single-handed backhands win over the two-handed backhand.
