Roger defeated by Djokovic

02.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was not able to win his semi-final against Novak Djokovic in Paris-Bercy today, he was defeated 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

Roger started brilliantly, breaking Djokovic early to take a 2-1 lead and later the set. He scored another break in the beginning of the second set, but Djokovic broke right back and Roger even dropped his serve one more time later on, losing the set. In the decider, Djokovic proved the stronger player, converting break-points to go up 2-1 and even scoring another break to 5-2 and eventually winning the match.

Next week, Roger will play the ATP World Tour Finals in London, having made his qualification for the tournament clear just this week.

It's all in the head... not the racket head.

SDANU - you probably have noticed this but in most 30:30 points when receiving, Federer loses the point after hitting a short ball/ mishit of the backhand side that opponents attack. Then that is usually followed by more backhand unforced errors. I think it plays on Roger's mind, his vulnerability on the backhand side.

SDANU - it's true hey, whenever opponents need to win a point, they bash Roger's single-handed backhand until he misses the sweet spot and hits the net or out. Too little margin for error and a high volume of times he has to play the shot, can't be a recipe for success in my opinion.

As I said after Wimbledon Roger must ask for professional help to rise his confidence. 5 years ago with 1:0 lead in sets and with brake in the second set he will finish with 2:0 securely. The problem is in the head and he must work with some very good professionals to change this attitude.

Dear Roger,
Irrespective of the result, you played some exceptional tennis throughout the tournament, showed a great deal of confidence, self-belief and high level of concentration. With guys like yesterday's opponent it's hard but crucial to always intensify, build up momentum, keep something else up your sleeve.
Your determination, involvement is inspiring, your game is captivating. Magic to feel part of it. Many thanks!!!

Dear Roger
I hate to read: Roger defeated by (especially) Djokovic, nadal! But I'm used to. My greatest hope is that you can beat him and the others in London! I'm sure you can do it! They, by no means, are your level! You play so beautiful tennis, I hate to watch them hitting the ball so strongly and without any imagination! But yesterday you lost the match you should have won! Shame!
All the best in London and good luck dearest Roger!
Love, Mimi
