Roger through to semis!

09.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger booked a spot in the semis of the ATP World Tour Finals after a 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-5 win over Juan Martin del Potro today.

Roger had difficulties returning del Potro's serves in the beginning and simply committed too many errors in the opening set - letting the Argentinian take a 5-1 lead and eventually the set. In the second set, Roger fell a break behind again but this time, he managed to level at 3-3. Roger later played an excellent tie-breaker to level in sets. But our champ lost the momentum in the decider as he let his opponent open up a 3-0 advantage. But once again, Roger came back full blast, finding his way into the match not only levelling but scoring another late break to go up 6-5 and then closing out the match with his 10th ace.

Roger will meet Rafael Nadal in the semis tomorrow at 2 p.m.

no thanks man, you are just saying the truth. i think maybe a lot of the fans here dont play tennis themselves. its clear roger is playing very poor with sometimes a good game, good set, good match against the likes as adriano...but in general its just not good enough to compete with the top. sometimes when rogers plays bad, i read comments like, well done roger, good play roger, you will win another slam roger and then i m like, are u kidding me? do u understand this game?

It is well known by now that Rafa Nadal owns Roger Federer and is on the way
to beat all Federer records in due time.

Nope - he has no exhibition matches planned this year. His full focus is on a productive off season to prepare for next year.

Don't worry Roger, you have been playing for the last 3 weeks and with the pressure of booking a spot in the atp world tour final. It's exhausting, but you have shown an incredible level to compite. Now take a long rest, forget this awful season and come back next year as strong as you used to be. I'll be waiting for you. COME ON CHAMPION!!!!!

To SABRI001,

Thank you. At least one person in this web site has a good sense. Appreciate your words. Many of the people in its website are like "fanatic Roger fans" and do not think at all.

Of course I would like to watch Roger to win, but not playing like he is playing. Never he will win playing like this. He needs to wake up, work hard than ever (age is coming) to win. Otherwise, better he retires.

BUT to be honest, i saw 1 thing that was clearly better today, his RETURN game!
If he can work on this and his serve in 2014 he will bring back damage to the tennis courts..lots of things to think about for roger

rest well, good bye

Nicely summarised Shatir. The next couple of months are going to feel lovely not having him around. Do you know if he's doing an exhibition tour at Christmas or just chilling out a little?

He may have been tired....but thats not the main reason he lost....he dint know what to do...crosscourt or dtl....or come to the net....having played rafa 30 odd times....still....ridiculous....rafa passed well....there was nothin special in his game..if rog doesnt recoup....he is on the to becomin like the first player to be beaten 30 times....and the greatest player who couldnt handle an opponent throughout his career....sadly this could happen....cummon rog...show us 2012 again....

cesardba, i agree with you. i wrote the same as you months ago. he plays with his succesfull career in head and is becoming more and more nervess on court. its showes in his game. all those unforced errors, its not normal anymore
