Roger through to semis!

09.11.2013 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger booked a spot in the semis of the ATP World Tour Finals after a 4-6, 7-6(2), 7-5 win over Juan Martin del Potro today.

Roger had difficulties returning del Potro's serves in the beginning and simply committed too many errors in the opening set - letting the Argentinian take a 5-1 lead and eventually the set. In the second set, Roger fell a break behind again but this time, he managed to level at 3-3. Roger later played an excellent tie-breaker to level in sets. But our champ lost the momentum in the decider as he let his opponent open up a 3-0 advantage. But once again, Roger came back full blast, finding his way into the match not only levelling but scoring another late break to go up 6-5 and then closing out the match with his 10th ace.

Roger will meet Rafael Nadal in the semis tomorrow at 2 p.m.

RFans,

Given how Roger's year has gone, this loss isn't too crazy or out of the blue.
It would have been wonderful - but a minor miracle - for Roger to beat both Rafa and Djokovic at this point.

He has constructed enough of a beautiful game and personality for us to hang our emotions on, plan our day around to watch him play, and this man will be back for bigger and better things next year.

Let's keep things in perspective and trust Roger to handle his beautiful game!

ADI1008 put this in your pipe and choke on it. I was at the match at the O2 to see Roger V Novak last Tuesday and not any old eat but court level and close to the player's entrance.

I was also at the Olympics Semi Finals to watch Roger against Juan Martin, Centre Court.

No I'm not a Roger fan. lol

I think at the end of the day Roger was too tired to go today. After playing against Delpo yesterday and no break between it was too much. Nadal had the advantage, a lot younger and a days break.
Never mind Roger, getting to semis was good and you and your tennis is still what we enjoy and love. Have a good rest and the train hard. 2014 will be good.

Practically speaking Roger is not going to win a GS or ATP 1000 as long a Nadal and Djoker are around.. Being optimistic is fine, being realistic needs courage..

If there are no major changes in Rogers preparation and training, thats half the battle lost. I am optimistic, but realistically I cannot back him up given the way things have been in the last 3 weeks.

Todays match is a perfect example!!!

@ADI1008,

You're no one to judge that! We all have a right to an opinion.
Please realise that you used abusive words against a person who was just expressing her opinion.
And yes, as far as I'm concerned, Fancyfree is most definitely a Fed fan. Not that NOT being a Fed fan calls for anyone using abusive words against a person.

It is really sad,

Roger is done, it is a fact. Unfortunately, many CRAZY fanatic fans think I am wrong, but I am not. Roger lost his tennis focus some years ago. Now he is a star, and he plays like a star. Forget about this, play like a tennis player, not like a star. You will never win these guys playing like a star. Play like a tennis player. I am tired to watch your defeats against Nadal / Djokovic. I do not waste my time anymore watching you maester. You are done, accept it and retire now.

Not to worry people, Roger had a good tournament...he played some awesome tennis in a very tough draw.

Rafa had a chill out draw and extra days of rest...no surprise he won...he had an easy peasy draw.

Rest well Roger, have a great holiday and i wish you love, health and success for 2014.

Love you So Much xxxxxxx
