Final vs. Hewitt

04.01.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has booked a spot in the Brisbane final after a 6-3, 6-7(3), 6-3 win over Jérémy Chardy (ATP 34).

Roger broke the Frenchman in the second game of the match, taking a 2-0 lead which he maintained to take the set. Neither of the players managed to score a break in the second set and it was Chardy who eventually claimed the set in the tiebreak (3-7). Roger secured another break towards the end of the decider, taking a 5-3 lead and then wrapping up the victory on his serve to love.

Roger will now meet an old rival - Lleyton Hewitt (ATP 60) - in Sunday's final.

Roger had already played Jérémy Chardy in the doubles the day before, Roger and Nicolas Mahut defeated Chardy and Grigor Dimitrov 7-6(3), 6-7(5), 11-9 in a tough match.

Still a lot of fight left in Roger!
His mood still seems relaxed and cheerful too! Definitely good signs in this irrespective of how it goes.

Roger just looks fatigued.
First tournament of the season. With back to back games yesterday.
He must hold here.

If I joined the match at this point, I wouldn't understand the score at all, because Roger is moving and playing almost normally.
Let's hope the shaky start was only fatigue or some temporary setback.

C'mon Rog!! Another title to win!
