Roger defeated in final

05.01.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated by Llyeton Hewitt in the Brisbane final 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.

"I didn't play great today which is a bit unfortunate. But also Lleyton was the best player I played this week. He made it toughest on me. So I have a clear idea what I need to work on, and I have a clear idea where my mind and body is at. I'm very hungry and eager to attack the Australian Open next week," Roger said. The Open starts on January 13th.

Roger committed a total of 22 unforced errors in the opening set and was broken three times. He fought back in the second set, securing it thanks to a break in in the ninth game. But our champ dropped his serve once again in the fourth game of the decider and unfortunately could not make use of his seven break points, eventually having to admit defeat after 2h 07.

Roger really needs to play on SLOW surfaces.
Because playing longer rallies will definitely help to fine tune the footwork and develop the feel of the new racquet on ground strokes and take full advantage of its power and spin to hit penetrating winners from behind the baseline even on slow surfaces.
Hoping that AO IS SLOW.

There was a vast difference in the footwork and ground strokes of Roger's between the Niemenen match (very good) and Hewitt match(very poor).
Hope Roger is NOT injured.

Federer need's to be patient to regain his previous skillfulness in the game.Reaching the finals and losing in 3 sets is not that bad considering the bad phase he is going through in his career for the past twelve months

It was unfortunate. I felt you still need to work on your new racket. It is good, anyway, you now know what to work on before the Australian Open.
I'm looking forward to it.
Go, Roger,

Love forever,
