Roger defeated in final

05.01.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated by Llyeton Hewitt in the Brisbane final 1-6, 6-4, 3-6.

"I didn't play great today which is a bit unfortunate. But also Lleyton was the best player I played this week. He made it toughest on me. So I have a clear idea what I need to work on, and I have a clear idea where my mind and body is at. I'm very hungry and eager to attack the Australian Open next week," Roger said. The Open starts on January 13th.

Roger committed a total of 22 unforced errors in the opening set and was broken three times. He fought back in the second set, securing it thanks to a break in in the ninth game. But our champ dropped his serve once again in the fourth game of the decider and unfortunately could not make use of his seven break points, eventually having to admit defeat after 2h 07.

@SDANU thanks so much. I totally agree with u. Our maestro is fine. Hewitt waited for a life time to achieve this and his coach Roche also waited for a long time to prove something. So be it. Our Maestro will be ready now.

Reasons for the LOSS.
1) Extra power of the new racquet.
2) FAST COURT SPEED
3) Hewitt's high level of play

There is NOTHING WRONG with Roger's fitness or game.
If only 2) was down a notch, Roger would have won this match.

The plexi cushion surface is slow as usual this year at the australian open.
SO ROGER WILL HAVE A GREATER CHANCE TO WIN THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN WITH HIS NEW RACQUET.

I AM NOT A BLIND FOLLOWER.
I AM AN METICULOUS OBSERVER OF THE GAME.

3) Hewitt played very well..

Roger would have won this match if only any one of 2) or 3) was down a notch.

He is doing really well folks..
NO WORRIES.
I still believe he can REALLY WIN THE Australian open.
I am NOT blindly believing. I say this after careful analysis of his matches this tournament.

IF THE COURT SPEED IN AUSTRALIA IS SLOW (IT IS IN FACT THE SAME AS LAST YEAR), ROGER WILL DOMINATE WITH HIS NEW RACQUET.

SO BRING IT ON !!! COMMON !!

Its 1 am here in India.
Just finished watching the full Hewitt match.

I watched each and every point carefully to see whats going wrong.
I can tell u 100% THAT NOTHING IS WRONG.
YES.. NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ROGER'S FITNESS OR GAME.

The reasons for his loss
1) Most of the ground strokes were either OVER HIT or UNDER HIT into the net. He is simply struggling to control the extra power of the racquet.
2) Fast Court speed did NOT help either to accustom to the new racquet.
3) Hewitt high l
