Roger wins in three

29.10.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated France's Jeremy Chardy (ATP 30) 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 6-4 in the second round of Paris-Bercy today.

Roger did not find his way into the match at first, having to fight back from trailing 0-3. Thanks to a break and being able to fight off four set-points he later even managed to secure another break and take a 6-5 lead. But dropping serve himself, the opening set went into the tie-breaker which Roger managed to just win. The second set also had to be decided in a tie-breaker, this time Roger was not able to capture it despite leading 3-1 and 5-4.
The fight continued in the third set, but fortunately it was Roger who managed the only break right in the beginning, going 1-0 up and never looking back from there.

Roger will now meet qualifier Lucas Pouille (ATP 176) from France.

How easy it is to forget that included in Roger's many excellent attributes is his fighting spirit, a willingness to stay the course even when the match does not appear to be going his way. Well done Fed and best of luck against the young gun today. I don't expect you to underestimate him, but to give him a good lesson.

Much Love

Good luck tonight Roger. I hope for an easier match for you this time, at least you are now used to the court and so you can concentrate on your game and opponent.
He sounds a dangerous young man, so take care, but you do not need me to tell you that! He is up against the best and in front of his home crowd, he has nothing to lose and will go for it! Allez Rog, show him, you are the best!

Congratulations! Great first match win against a tough opponent in Chardy. Next up is the French young gun. As usual I trust you would not underestimate his ability. Keep the heat firmly on Novak for year end No. 1 by going all the way to the final! Best of luck.
