Roger in round three

16.01.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated Blaz Kavcic (ATP 99) 6-2, 6-1, 7-6(4) to reach the third round of the Australian Open.

For the first time in ten years, Roger had to play outside Rod Laver Arena. He got on court at Hisense Arena after the extreme heat policy was enforced earlier on Thursday. Our champ showed great tennis, scoring 11 aces and breaking Kavcic's serve six times to secure the win in under two hours.

He will now play either Fernando Verdasco (ATP 33) or Teimruas Gabaschwili (ATP 79).

TIMISRB, I agree. It is definitely the best he has played in recent times.

I'm sure that this is the best Roger since I don't know, maybe since 2013 january or february. Or something like that. I'm very happy about it!

Yeah I know it isn't likely, it is just really lovely to dream. I love seeing matches when he is playing this well.

Gabashvili is a really strong player. Unlikely to get bageled today!
It's a credit to Roger that he can hang with big hitters and play tactically smarter patterns.
