10th anniversary no. 1

02.02.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Today marks the 10th anniversary of Roger first becoming No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings on 2 February 2004. The abiding memory is of Roger dropping to his knees and raising his arms in celebration. It was 9:30 p.m. in Melbourne, on 30 January 2004, and he had just beaten his rival for No. 1 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, Juan Carlos Ferrero, in the Australian Open semi-finals. The victory proved to be enough for Roger to become the world’s premier player for the first time. Roger confessed, “I wanted to enjoy this moment. You only get to be No. 1 once.”

Switzerland and Sweden played the best ice hockey game in Sochi so far. Hope this does not mean that Stefan lost a bet because i was a huge fan of him in my childhood. Keep on pushing both team swiss and team sweden.

I thought his nomination was some kind of joke, but i guess it's for real. I really hope the swiss will win against sweden.

The draw will be available on Saturday. I really can't wait to see Roger play again. Lucky enough I have a week off. So I will be able to watch his matches.

Roger: Hope U are training really hard, really looking forward to UR return to action. Hope the serve and volley is sharp in order to rule the fast courts of dubai. you can win this if U beleive in yourself and have the fire in UR eyes. really trusting in Ur tennis and hoping you can add more tournaments to your clay swing and your asian swing. One month without you is unbearable. Also with the larger frame you will become a force to reckon with on clay which means + wins, more tourneys?please.

Congratulations GB on the curling!
I half watched the match. Extremely close, probably GB won because they had the advantage of the hammer at the end, otherwise could have gone either way it was that close. I think GB had the edge throughout though.

I remember when the GB team won the gold in 2002. I could not have said the date, but I do remember, it was a big thing at the time FANCY. I think curling was invented in Scotland, so the Scots should be good at it. That said, it does not always follow. I think tennis was invented by GB and it is certainly not a strong sport now!
