Roger cruises on

27.02.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger booked a spot in the semis in Dubai after a clear 6-2, 6-2 victory - with a shaky start - over Lukas Rosol.

Rosol found Roger's weakness in his second serve, going ahead 2-0 in the opening phase of the match. But Roger reacted in style, securing all further games of the first set. He continued with the same precision, leaving Rosol no chance and wrapping up the win in under an hour.

In the battle for a spot in the final, Roger will meet Novak Djokovic. In the other semi, Tomas Berdych and Philipp Kohlschreiber will meet.

Congratulations Roger. Though I did not watch the match, I monitored the scores on my computer as the match progressed. It was obviously a great comeback from a set down and a sign of good things to come this season. The new racket, new found confidence and drive for success are definitely at work here. Wawrinka's recent sucess at Australian Open must have also injected some hunger in you. I wish you success tomorrow against Berdych. Go for your elusive 78th title!

Those who did not see the match, please try and do so, that was pure, vintage Roger and he was magic. I wish I had recorded it now.
I see the Dubai Open ends on the first, so I think the final is on tomorrow. Shame Roger does not get a rest, but perhaps it is good, Roger is on fire, we do not want the flames to go out, so to speak! Thank you Roger, and congratulations!

The final is tomorrow as it turns out.
Berdych has been looking very sharp this season, but after today, Roger definitely has to be the favourite. He simply has the more superior, more all round game.

This is especially the kind of situation Roger wanted to get himself into! So happy for him! He shall sleep peacefully tonight, and so shall I!

Mimi Roger, after he broke was in command for the rest of the match. It was inevitable he was going to win!

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! Even before Roger got the break in the second I was thinking what a great game. I can see why he plays the game. Win or lose he is a joy to watch. I hope I get to see him live. Best of luck in the final, cheering for you
