Sixth Dubai title

01.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger celebrated his sixth tournament title in Dubai after a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Tomas Berdych today.

Roger started well and broke Berdych's serve early in the opening set - but then suddenly started to struggle, dropping his own serve twice and losing the set. In the second, he fell behind as he dropped his serve once again. But that was the moment when he flicked the switch to fight back, eventually securing the second set. In set number three, he displayed fantastic tennis in the crucial moments and secured another break, holing the lead to win the match.

With 78 titles Roger is now trailing only Jimmy Connors (109) and Ivan Lendl (94). He has won at least one title 14 years in a row, equaling Lendl’s record.

You are not the only one TIMISRB, my life has still a surreal feel about it. Not so much the Berdy match, Roger did well to beat him, he is a hard hitter and dangerous, but it was really the RF vs Djoko match which showcased Rogers skill. My jaw is still dragging along the ground, such a shame I did not record the match as I would watch it again to confirm to myself that I did not dream it, it was for real. I believe in Roger, but that took some believing! I do hope he can take a GS or two!

Even the commentary at one point said Roger was officially ranked at 8 but so far this year he was playing at a rank of 4 and I think that was before he beat Djoko and Berdy! He will go up the rankings quickly if Rog remains fit. Delpo is rather sadly injured and Murray is rather like Roger was last year. Roger has still not worked with Stefan that much, so I still think we have more treats to come. Rog has shown his loyal fans what we knew. He is still at 32 Roger and the real No.1!

I remember him saying something about going to Dubai to see Roger play. But i'm
not 100% sure. Anyway, I'm sure we will hear from him soon.

Guys, it's Monday and I'm still overjoyed by our Champion! It's the same feeling than it was two days ago, when he won Dubai. His last two matches, the way he turned those matches, just incredible. I still feel I'm walking on air! Am I the only one?

Where is RF4World? He hasn't posted about Roger's last two matches!
