Sixth Dubai title

01.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger celebrated his sixth tournament title in Dubai after a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Tomas Berdych today.

Roger started well and broke Berdych's serve early in the opening set - but then suddenly started to struggle, dropping his own serve twice and losing the set. In the second, he fell behind as he dropped his serve once again. But that was the moment when he flicked the switch to fight back, eventually securing the second set. In set number three, he displayed fantastic tennis in the crucial moments and secured another break, holing the lead to win the match.

With 78 titles Roger is now trailing only Jimmy Connors (109) and Ivan Lendl (94). He has won at least one title 14 years in a row, equaling Lendl’s record.

Welcome back girl!!! Of course we haven't forgot about you. Glad to have you back here. And yeah, Roger was out of this world. I'm still blown away by his performance from Saturday :-) but it still bothers me a little he is still ranked 8th.

Hey guys & girls, remember me?? Roger's diehard fan Kemna. Hope you all haven't forgotten about me.
Dear Yuki, Fancy, ILR92, Vishakha & others. Thank you for asking about me. I was kind of busy with work and having troubles with it and other stuff, which to be honest I don't want to get in too. But that does not mean I forgot about you all or about our handsome and dangerously good Roger. He is back and this is only the beginning !! From now on he only goes up !! Hope Huli will be back soon

...the actual ranking gives him a disadvantage...

Our sweet Roger still ranked number 8.
Annoying, because the actual ranking doesn't gives him a disadvantage in the tournaments' drawings.

But if you look at the "Race to London" rankings, there you have a more accurate picture of the current situation, with Roger already ranking 4th, only after Wawrinka, Nadal and Berdych. Poor Now is actually positioned as number 10 and Del Potro is way back at #19.

As the season advances, Roger will get better drawings. Hopefully by Wimbledon.

Unfortunatelly now there Is no much time to rest and celebrate, by Tuesday you will be hitting the courts long and hard on the Caifornia Dessert I suppose in order to get the speed of the courts and have the best chances of winning the tournament, play stress free, swerve above 60% on first and your chances to break will come but don't overthink it, go with your natural flow of flawless tennis, always cheering.

Roger: Great victory and great Resiliance and fight, I hope this will give you the confidence to win another big tournament without dropping a set like you did in Cincinatti in 2012. Hopefully you can do that back to back with IW and Miami and you wont be extremely tired to play 2 tournaments in April to have wiggle room for Rome and the chance to be in a good spot in RG. Hopefully Stefan can convince you to play Casablanca, Montecarlo and Oeiras. Please Roger let us see you win Montecarlo once
