Sixth Dubai title

01.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 3

Roger celebrated his sixth tournament title in Dubai after a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Tomas Berdych today.

Roger started well and broke Berdych's serve early in the opening set - but then suddenly started to struggle, dropping his own serve twice and losing the set. In the second, he fell behind as he dropped his serve once again. But that was the moment when he flicked the switch to fight back, eventually securing the second set. In set number three, he displayed fantastic tennis in the crucial moments and secured another break, holing the lead to win the match.

With 78 titles Roger is now trailing only Jimmy Connors (109) and Ivan Lendl (94). He has won at least one title 14 years in a row, equaling Lendl’s record.

Overwhelmed with Joy already?
HERE IS A REMINDER. Some thing to look forward to.

Roger said he will be 100% only by April.

Judging by his performance in Dubai, i say he was only at like at 80 % of his best which was still good enough to beat fully fit and rested Novak and Berdych in top form. IMAGINE WHAT DAMAGE HE COULD DO IF HE WAS AT 100%

PRIME FED coming up !!! Watc

this is annoying but even after playing super good and WINNING DUBAI..Rogi is still on no. 8
I think its gonna take a little time to get ranking points..Atleast till Mid May I expect Rogi to climb in top 4 because he doesnt have to defend much points at IndianW Miami and Madrid

Roger, is very nice to see and know that you are coming back your ways. Last year it was very sad for me watching you going out of tournaments before semifinals or even quarter finals. Watching the match you had, lately, against Nole was like watching the Roger of 2004-2006 (powerful, sharp, quick, and graceful) and I knew it, if you beat Nole you could beat Thomas as well....Wish you the best at Indian Wells.

Great, Roger! Sure, you have exceeded the number of wins of my other idol, McEnroe ... but I forgive you! ;-) Keep it up, you look in Rome.

Big congratulations on your 6th Dubai title, Roger! It's a tremendous accomplishment!... one of many in your career. I was so pleased you came through with the title, but it wasn't easy & you had me worried a time or two during your matches, then joy, joy my prayers were answered yes & the trophy is yours again! I'm smiling as I write this & loving seeing your smile as you enjoy this win.

Look forward to seeing you in Indian Wells. All the best to you, as always. Endlessly cheering for you!
