Roger defeated in final

17.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(3) by Novak Djokovic in today's final in Indian Wells.

Roger started brilliantly, taking a 3-0 lead thanks to aggressive play and great serves, taking the first set. Unfortunately he couldn't continue on the exact same level in the second set, falling behind with an early break. In the decider, Djokovic was a break up again and serving for the set when Roger came back with a fantastic return game to  stay in the match. Later, in the tie-break, Roger was clearly defeated 3-7.

So sad that you had to experience defeat in the finals of Indian Wells. You were so close to beating the Djoker, you played so well in the first set but lost your focus a little bit on the second set. You got your Mojo back on the third but the tie break did you in.
Well, there are so many more matches to win. The Miami 1000 ATP will be a place to redeem yourself and show them that age aint nothing but a number. I can't wait to see you hoist that cup and climb back up to number 3...

i just saw the replay of that game, i didnt rember it quit well. in that game he made some bad errors, handing novak the break. its in the third game of the third set were he made some bad decisions. i hope he and stefan are going to analyse that match because he is playing great but he needs to play smarter against novak and rafa. he has the weapons but he needs the brains sometimes. come on champ

roger made some bad decicisions in that game were he lost his serve in the second set. a drive volley straight to novaks forehand, here novak hits a passing shot. setting a point beatifully but not coming to the net to finishit off, instead he stayed behind and made the error.. the moment he dropped his serve i could tell by the look in his face that he knew this was not good.

but overall a very high level and a very good tournament..

Actually you're right - prior to 2009, the Shanghai slot was taken by Madrid, which is where Nadal won.
So it's only Roger and Djokovic who are quite close to winning all ATP 1000's at least once.

Rafa won Shanghai in 2005, so like I said, it's only Paris and Miami he has never won among the ATP 1000's.

You guys mean well, but why go over the same old beaten path of finding "trolls" and "fighting" for "Fed fans"? (Yay, Internet warriors!)
Can't we keep things simple and talk to the people we know/people who say meaningful things? It's because we give unwanted people attention they become important.

At times Roger was making his usual mistake which is hitting the ball to the side where his opponent is at, instead of securing the ball to the other side. in that way he gave away many easy points. Come on Roger just put the ball far from the other player's reach that's all!

There is no point in regretting for the past but one must learn from his mistakes. Please watch the recorded video of your last match and make a strategy to over come the unforced errors, your presence of mind plays an important role in this regard, please keep it up from start to finish against every body
Wish you all the very best in Miami
