Roger defeated in final

17.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 6-7(3) by Novak Djokovic in today's final in Indian Wells.

Roger started brilliantly, taking a 3-0 lead thanks to aggressive play and great serves, taking the first set. Unfortunately he couldn't continue on the exact same level in the second set, falling behind with an early break. In the decider, Djokovic was a break up again and serving for the set when Roger came back with a fantastic return game to  stay in the match. Later, in the tie-break, Roger was clearly defeated 3-7.

The good from Djoker winning is that Nadal's lead in ranking points is reduced, Nole has the confidence now to challenge Nadal, whom he can whip on any given day, and I feel he will win FO this year. I don't know how Wimby seeding works but Murray has got to up his game if he wants back into top 4 before Wimby.

Good effort Roger, your game has improved alot. Can't be expected to beat the best all the time, nowadays even the best can't beat the best all the time, that's just not realistic. As long as there was fight in you which there was. Lets have a strong showing in Miami, hopefully Stefan will be available the whole week and the goal is get to No.4 ranking before the FO.

It was just a few points here and there that you lost. Never mind, you played brilliantly, and stormed back in the third to break back at 6-5. I thought you'd got it then, but it was not to be in the tiebreak. Good to see you looking upbeat at the ceremony, and you should be. It was a thrilling match and totally showed you are playing at an exceptional level. Well done, Roger!

Roger, I'm so proud of you!! After the difficulties last year, you play really well! Four tournaments, and already three finals! Those people who said last year that you can't play tennis any more, are totally wrong because everybody should remember what you've done in tennis! Oh, and what you will! :) Don't forget, you have so many fans who always believe in you! We are extremely happy cause we can see you playing again in that way! Congratulations! Best of luck in Miami! RFamily is with you!!!

However, a success. You must be satisfied. The first set was perfect and the final third a great recovery that could run the game. Anyway, thank you for the wonderful test against an opponent younger than 6 years old and number 2 in the world in the ATP rankings. Good luck in future tournaments!!! Don't worry Roger you'll reamin a great CHAMPION. No doubt about this!!!

Dearest Roger
It was a very good tournament and it is really good to see you are feeling positive and happy about your current performance. More important, you are healthy and willing to play and win.
The finals in Indian Wells go to prove that if someone wants to win against the great Roger Federer he has to bring his very best tennis with him. It was not enough to be Djokovic, he really had to wake up and work for the title.

Despite the loss, it is always a delight seeing you play. Love!

The fire is still burning strong guys. No need to worry or to feel sad. Even Roger is happy with the way he's playing right now; http://m.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2014/03/11/Indian-Wells-Sunday-Federer-reaction.aspx

Roger said; "age is just a number". And I fully agree. Why should age become an issue for him. He still loves to be out there.

Am really gutted Roger lost - just so unlucky in the tie-break! It's been a great tournament for him, played fabulous tennis. Let's go Roger to the next tournament. You will get your renge on Djokovic and soon!
