A perfect start in Miami

21.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger booked his place in the third round in Miami with a 6-4, 7-6(4) win over Ivo Karlovic (ATP 53).

Roger served perfectly, dropping only three points on serve during the entire match which he opened with a break, giving him the necessary lead to wrap up the first set. Karlovic could not keep up with Roger's baseline and net play and so our champ also went on to win the second set in the tie-breaker after a total of 75 minutes of play.

Roger will meet either Thiemo de Bakker (ATP 162) or Fernando Verdasco (ATP 29) in the next round.

Well, that looked easy! Loved the way he came into the camera close, and waved after the match, they have just shown it again.
I got that feeling in the second set he was just enjoying himself and had gone into entertainment mode. Wonderful to watch. Thank you Roger and congratulations!

That was a lot like Roger's backhand winner in the 2008 Wimbledon final 4th set tie-break to save match point.
