Roger eases into round four

23.03.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger has made it into round four in Miami thanks to a comfortable 6-3, 6-3 win over Thiemo de Bakker today.

Roger managed an early break in the opening set which gave him the necessary lead to take the set 6-3. With a break in the opening game of the second set, he then moved on without any trouble to defeat de Bakker after 63 minutes after a third break.

Next up in Miami is Richard Gasquet (ATP 9) on Tuesday, Roger leads the head-to-head 11-2.

Stan down a break again in the 3rd set.
He's been a little up & down ever since the AO.

To be fair to Rafa, I must add that English is not his first language, and this book is co-authored with someone else. Considering it was published when he was 23-24, I'm not sure what percentage of the book is Rafa's contribution exactly.

Hey guys, now that Roger is officially number 4, is it time to worry about Nishikori??? He is taking out good players left and right... Hope Roger will stop that and take revenge for last year...

@Fancyfree,

Well I think Roger's story is in stark contrast to Rafa's for a large part. For eg., Roger's parents were supportive but spent the best part of his development quietly in the background. There's not a lot of dramatic stories and trivia you hear about there. There's no mystery really, it's about loving something and following it to the end.

Rafa's book tries, unsuccessfully I think, to mystify the "success process" with endless tales of sacrifice and endurance and family et al.

Its amazing to know how is it that nadal always gets easy draws .. explains why he has managed to win 13 slams... and our hero always gets tough draws still managed to win 17 slams.. so its murray vs djokovic .. blockbuster qtr final.. worthy of a final..

As for being disappointed in Rafa's book and that you didn't find the answer to his success but rather a lot on his family. I think tennis is predominately a middle class game and it's expensive to have coaches .....

Support is vital to success. That support tends to come from family. Look at Roger's! m!
