Roger defeated by Nishikori

27.03.2014 | Tennis

Unfortunately Roger lost his quarter final im Miami against Kei Nishikori 6-3, 5-7 and 4-6.

"I just couldn’t find my rhythm on my serve today, which was surprising especially after how well I played and served especially this week. It didn’t take off the same way it did during the day time. You can expect that with the temperature drop," Roger said.

After easily winning the opening set, Roger was up a break twice in the second set but Nishikori always managed to fight back and finally capture the set. In the decider, Roger finally had to admit defeat after 128 minutes of play.

Next up is the Davis Cup rubber in Switzerland against Kazakhstan, starting on April 4.

If I may add something to the orange soles controversy, in my opinion it was the TV to be blamed. They were showing close ups of the shoes all the time.
The soles were hard to be noticed by the people sitting there and watching the match, and certainly not by the umpire and the opponents.
With Serena's William you could see the orange shorts from all perspectives.
But as I said, they showed Roger's soles on TV every second shot.

I still get irritated by Wimby and the orange soles. I loved them, but love them or hate them they did not infringe the rules as stated and the women had much more colour on show, like their shorts. The rule was not kept to uniformly. I'm off now to sunny Geneva! Yippee! Have fun everyone.

Dear Roger and Stan,

Best luck playing DC tomorrow and over the weekend in beautiful Geneve.
Please win!

(I know it is soon, but cannot help getting excited about starting planning for Cincinnati open; this would be my 3rd year. Seeing you has been worth every single minute of the 7h trip, every single penny spent, every single vacation minute taken, every single minute waiting to see you practice... so worth seeing you!)

Dear Roger you make tons of people so happy and for that we thank

I would not have minded Roger's orange soled shoes being banned (and didn't specially like them) had not Serena Williams got away with wearing bright red knickers throughout the tournament, a much more flagrant flouting of the all white rule (which actually I support)

At the time I found that ban really petty and haven read your article, yes they were wrong to ask Roger to change them.

I note players have to submit their outfits for scrutiny prior to the tournament so do I assume the shoes passed this?

@FancyFree: Though, there's no point in talking about it now, but, u know, that decision by ALETC To ban Orange shoes was wrong as per ITF rules, detailed read with few facts & rules (when ever, u r free) ---
