Roger levels against Kazakhstan

04.04.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger defeated Mikhail Kukushkin 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in the Davis Cup quarter-final clash against Kazakhstan to level 1-1 after Stanislas Wawrinka lost his opening match.

"Now we've got to start all over again, that's what I told Stan. The weekend has only just started. There's no drama. That's how I saw it going into my singles match," Roger said.

On Saturday, Stan and Roger will take on Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Evgeny Korolev in the doubles.

Come on Roger, Come on Stan, tomorrow is another day and you can still do it! Today was unfortunate. Too many errors at the wrong moments. Two sets you lost which you should have won. Both of you played some brilliant shots but both made bad errors. Having said that the Khazas were serving and playing top class, it is difficult to break a serve like that. Put it aside, sleep well and you have all to play for tomorrow. I and your fans will be there doing all we can to support you both! Allez! xx

Well, I just watched the postmatch interviews and I am impressed with how calm Roger, Stan and Severin Lühti were. Gives me just that little bit of positive mindset to actually make me looking forward to tomorrows match, hopefully matches.
Roger would love to beat Goloubev, so let us keep our fingers crossed that Stan will beat Kukushkin tomorrow and Roger can finish the job.

Dear Roger,
Only you can help Stan - please help him from your heart. You two can still win this - one point at a time - you win first to bring it to 2-2. Then let Stan bring it home in the final Singles.

Cometh the moment ! Cometh the Man !

P.S. Boting has a point about Captaincy.

Hi, I've been lurking the comments section for like two years now and thought I should create an account and post a comment once and for all... I really hope the swiss team can beat kazakhstan...What's wrong with Stan? How did he lose form so quickly? I mean he had like a 4 week break between DC round of 16 and IW, but it's like he's lost confidence...too much pressure from expectations?
So anyway do you guys know at what time is Stan and Roger's match tomorrow?

putting this question it looks like you dont know nothing about tennis especialy
what it means to be captain of a DC .......

This must be hard to swallow and under these circumstances DC tennis is not as much fun as it could be. I must say that the Kazakh team is playing very smart, but the tons of unforced errors made by Stan were just too painfull to watch.
Right now I think it requires a small miracle over night to get your teammate back on track and win his 2nd single. Hope dies last, so I can only hope we will get to see a turn of your team's luck tomorrow.
Wishing you and the team all the best.
