Roger battles back to reach semis

18.04.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger came back from one set down at the Monte Carlo Masters today to defeat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-1 and book a spot in the semis. It was our champ's 950th career victory.

Roger struggled in the opening set as he dropped his serve and clearly lost the set. Play in the second set was more even, eventually going into a tie-break where Roger just managed to fight off Tsonga's strong shots and capture the set. An early break in the decider gave Roger a real boost, with our champ going all the way, only leaving Tsonga one single game.

Roger will next face either defending champion Novak Djokovic or Guillermo Garcia-Lopez for a place in the final.

I don't think so. More the fact that Stan is on his favourite surface and that Stan knows his game better than anyone and is now a player who believes in himself. Stan's problem is his seeming mental problem with being Swiss No.1. I think he will want success but he also wants to become Swiss no.2 again!

One game away! Sorry for Djoker, but so happy for Roger!
He deserves some things to go his way, finally

Roger
Remember your back injury last year.
No one showed mercy to you.
Don't show mercy for anyone.

Yeah, those were my thoughts exactly, I too believe Roger has the mental edge, but was asking because I think I saw that his only loss against Stan came in Montecarlo, so you know it's kind of an unpredictable match...do you think his loss against Stan here will affect his game?
