Roger defeated in final

20.04.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 2

Roger was defeated by fellow Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4, 6-7(5), 2-6 in today's final in Monte Carlo.

Roger started well, taking the first set thanks to a break to 3-2. Stan gained momentum, breaking Roger in the second set, but our champ responded with a break himself. The tie-breaker was decided by a mere two points with Stan taking it 7-5. Roger fell two breaks behind to trail 0-4 in the decider and was finally defeated after two hours and 13 minutes of play.

Robredo was beaten by Agut today. So the revenge match I want to see will have to wait.

I see Robredo was beaten in two sets earlier today by Bautista Agut so Roger won't be able to exact revenge this time!

***CJM*** you are right. Maybe he thought it could go and had a sudden sharp pain in practice. A week or 2 ago he planned to play both madrid and rome. Bad timing for him with a chance to get #1back. It is just so irritating to me when the withdrawal happens.but that's what you live with in tennis. I should have said i wish the pain happened before the draw.

I presume Djoko has rested the wrist and then decided to test it out in practice and it did not feel right, but I tend to agree, surely he could have done that before the draw. There is one thing about pulling out at the last minute with a sudden last minute problem, but surely, if an ongoing injury still gives discomfort, it is not going to heal enough in that time to withstand a hard hitting tennis tournament. Still, what do I know about these things? Nothing!

Murray being out of top 4 is justified. Nadal djk, stan, and roger certainly deserve top 4 status. I didn't mean he should be in because he has not played like it. They have. What i meant was his being #8 or even #7 he ends up all over the place. He is not always great but on occasion he can be. So you have to look out for him.

Well, here we go again. Djokovic doing a delpo. Can't these people withdraw before the the draw is out and people are playing? We got a lopsided draw again. Roger could possibly play murray qf, nadal sf, and stan final if he is able to get that far. Stan may have ferrer sf and one of the other big guns final. Lately they have played out differently than rankings would have us believe. Guess we will see if there are any surprises this tourney. Murray out of the top 4 isn't helping things.

I love to vote for RF4WORLD as our webmaster. I do hope our Maestro does not have to pay a lot for our webmaster. I am not happy with whoever he or she is. It is already Madrid open today and look at our web page, how disappointing.

May our Maestro be always happy and healthy. I guess thinking of him does make me again.
