Ninth Wimbledon final!

04.07.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger clearly defeated Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 today to set up a Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic, it is the ninth Wimbledon final in Roger's career.

"That was a big victory, I really had to focus on every point. I know that is always the case at this stage but it was hard. I had to be very careful on my service games and I knew there were only going to be a few chances on his serve, but I am very, very happy," Roger said.

Roger was fully in control of the match, offering Raonic just one single break-ball in the entire match. Roger seized a total of three points, early in the first set and at 4-4 in set two and three.

On Sunday, Roger has the chance to break new ground once again: pushing his number of Grand Slam wins to 18 and winning a record eigth title in Wimbledon when he meets Novak Djokovic. The two players have met 34 times so far, Roger has won 18 of the encounters.

if you had to choose, would you prefer watching roger win another slam before retiring and then eventually having nadal dopal overtake him on number of slams; or would you take roger never winning a gs again but holding the grand slam record??? which would you choose??

Fancy - Roger looked saddened but not like in 2008. He left everything on court today and he can hold his head up high and even the crowd recognised and appreciated this. Novak said some great things about Roger at the post match ceremony. I think he respects Roger even more after todays match.
