Ninth Wimbledon final!

04.07.2014 | Tennis, Starseite 1

Roger clearly defeated Milos Raonic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 today to set up a Wimbledon final against Novak Djokovic, it is the ninth Wimbledon final in Roger's career.

"That was a big victory, I really had to focus on every point. I know that is always the case at this stage but it was hard. I had to be very careful on my service games and I knew there were only going to be a few chances on his serve, but I am very, very happy," Roger said.

Roger was fully in control of the match, offering Raonic just one single break-ball in the entire match. Roger seized a total of three points, early in the first set and at 4-4 in set two and three.

On Sunday, Roger has the chance to break new ground once again: pushing his number of Grand Slam wins to 18 and winning a record eigth title in Wimbledon when he meets Novak Djokovic. The two players have met 34 times so far, Roger has won 18 of the encounters.

Rallies killed Roger and bad approaches on soft returns - so close guys, so close . . .

I saw him with the twins, a lovely sight. I have just seen some heartbreaking pics of Roger in tears on the Lisa Wawrinka website, which has finished off everyone. I think he had set his heart on winning that and is bitterly disappointed. I do hope that the twins and team can help him keep things in perspective and get over to him how lucky he is. Today Roger won the runners up trophy and everyone's hearts.

Roger, sorry for the lost but so proud of you for keep fighting till the end. I'm sad that you lost. On the other hand, you showed those people who said negative things about you that you are still there and you are still challenging those who are on top.

I wondered if those on top can do what you do now at that age. Please don't be too sad. Rest well and prepare well for next one. It is just mid season. Keep the energy up, Rog. Once your fan, always be your fan no matter what.

I share the same thing about the website. Especially during big points, the website collapsed. They need to expand the capacity. And I too am proud to be Rogers fan.that will never change. Not even when Roger decides to retire. Once a fan always a fan.

So sad you couldn't quite make it, dear Roger, but my goodness it was a thrilling match and so very close right to the end. So wonderful to see you in a final again and next time you'll be winning the Major. Much love as always to you and your dear family and expecting to see you win the USO!!

Dear Roger,
You ought to win. I think it depended on nuances. I'm sad. I don't like anything what Djokovic is. His mentality is so disgusting.
Thanks your fantastic tennis. You are the tennis, the man.
Love,
Erzsó
