An impressive performance
In just fifty-eight minutes, Roger Federer cruised to the semifinals in Monte Carlo. He beat Spain’s David Ferrer, 6-4, 6-0. Roger’s 500th career match win was sealed with six aces and no double faults.
Roger clearly dominated the match, even though the first set was a bit of a fight. Taking control of the second set, Roger did not let his Spanish foe win a single game. Though Ferrer offered some resistance, Roger made sure he had something in store for Ferrer. It was only a matter of minutes before Federer wrapped up the second set, 6-0.
"I'm really happy to have won my 500th game here in Monte Carlo," Roger said. “David is a very good player. Beating him 6-4, 6-0 on clay is very good for me. I like to play against him, he is a good player and I win. It was a good test," he added.
Federer next battles either Juan Carlos Ferrero (ATP 21) who beat Richard Gasquet 5-7, 7-5, 6-2 in their semifinal. The head-to-head between Roger and Ferrero is 6-3, with Roger taking home the last four matches.
The only other active player on the ATP tour with 500 victories is Carlos Moya. The Spaniard has won 516 singles matches in his professional career. Roger celebrated his first victory in Toulouse on September 30, 1998. Roger, 17 years old at that stage, was number 878 in the world rankings.

Congratulations on your 500th career win.
Good luck for the rest of the tournament.

To beat Ferrer, a tough opponent on most surfaces particularly clay, in the way you did indicates that you have found your clay surface legs. Everyone better watch out now.
