Roger breezes into the next round
Roger made a smooth start to his Cincinnati Masters title bid by beating Frenchman Julien Benneteau 6-3 6-3. With this victory, he has already advanced one round further than a year ago.
An early break put Roger, looking for his 50th career title, on his way and after taking the first set, he broke in the seventh and ninth games of the second to clinch victory. He will next play Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus, who beat Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela 6-7 6-4 6-2, in the third round.
"It gives you a fright when you see some people retiring and others, like Djokovic, who had the tournament of his life last week, losing quite comfortably," Roger said in a courtside interview. "It puts extra pressure on you so I'm happy I am the one to survive." Rafael Nadal was forced to retire on Wednesday.

It was great seeing you in Cincinnati last night. You made it look very easy. I was watching you play live for the first time.
After the match I waited outside to take your autograph but couldn't wait for more than 70 minutes as it was alread

The Open is going to be tough, but you will find a way to be champ again! Good luck and best wishes!!
Congratulations on your easy win yesterday! I love you in black!
I could not help thinking what would Mary Carillo say about Djokovic's loss yesterday. I remember how quick she was to make a judgement on you last time, when you lost
Take care.
