Roger moves on

17.08.2007 | Tennis

Roger booked his path to the quarter-finals with a 7-6(5), 7-5 win over Marcos Baghdatis (CYP).

While Thursday's 40-degree Celsius heat drained many players, Roger’s habit of training in Dubai left him all but immune to the sweltering Midwest. "The problem is more the humidity. The sweat is all over. The hand gets wet, and it's hard to hold the grip," he said. "Dubai was way hotter than this today, so this is actually pretty mild."

Of his opponent in the next round, Nicolas Almagro, he said: "It was dangerous playing him. He's got a wonderful kick serve, great motion and nice forehand. He's a danger player from the back. Massive power and he's a big guy.”

The match is scheduled to start around 2 p.m. on Center Court today.

Congrats Roger!! It was a tough match, but you came up with the shots when you needed to, and Marcos's numerous double faults did help a lot. Good luck in the next round!! Just try your best and I know you'll come out on top!!

Congratulations Roger, all the best for your match today. Glad to hear practicing in Dubai was useful, it's even hotter now it gets 48 degree and the humidity is even worse, but i guess it's useful practicing here for tennis players ;)
