Dear fans
I am really disappointed to have to withdraw from the AIG Japan Open, starting next week. I was very much looking forward to returning to Tokyo as the defending champion and seeing all the great fans at Ariyake stadium. Unfortunately I have still not fully physically recovered from the US Open and Davis Cup. I have been working hard with my team, especially my physiotherapist, in order to make it in time for the tournament in Tokyo . I am sorry to say that at this point my body is not ready yet and I need to rest for these extra days in order to avoid the risk of serious injury.
I hope you can understand my decision and I am looking forward to making up for it in the future!

You decision is absolutely logical and correct.
A suggestion for your schedule next year... After the AU and Dubai, please DO NOT go to US. It does not acclimatize you to French in any way... Stick to the European Clay Court Circuit. Play NOT M
I was counting the days to see you playing in Tokyo, but I guess I have to stay counting until the next tournament :). Take all the rest you need, we always like to see you at your best and in very good shape. God Bless You.

Sorry to here that you will not be in Tokyo this year. THat is a bummer, I was so hoping to add the Tokyo win to my pictures of the 2007 season. You know your body best and if you need to rest that is ok. I am sure you Japanese fans are disap
