Roger claimed a swift victory over Robby Ginepri 7-6(2), 6-4 in his first match of the Madrid Masters 2007.

"I took a rest so I could be 100 percent here, and now I'm fresh and eager to play here again," he said before the match. Roger had to play two tiebreakers against Ginepri in the seventh game of the first set, but thanks to an ace and a service point he dominated the situation. In the second set, our star breezily went 4-2 ahead and served 10 aces after breaking the American's service in the eighth game.

Roger will next play the winner between Argentina's Agustin Calleri and Guillermo Canas on Wednesday.
