NetJets Showdown - Sold out

26.02.2008 | Off Court

Tickets for the much anticipated tennis match between the world’s top ranked male tennis player, Roger Federer, and the most decorated Grand Slam player ever, Pete Sampras, are officially sold out. The NetJets Showdown presented in association with The Marquis Jet Card and Men’s Vogue magazine is scheduled for Monday, March 10 at Madison Square Garden.

The NetJets Showdown is a StarGames production in association with eight-time Grand Slam Champion Ivan Lendl and Madison Square Garden. The match will air live in the US on The Tennis Channel and locally on FSNY beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET. Additionally, the match will be broadcast internationally in Canada, Brazil, Russia, France, and Australia.

The NetJets Showdown will mark the return of men’s tennis to Madison Square Garden since the 1996 Nike Cup and the first time tennis has been played at the historic venue since 2000.

“The popularity of both Federer and Sampras, two of the world’s top performers, is clearly evident,” said Joel Fisher, executive vice president, MSG Sports. “Playing to a sold out crowd at Madison Square Garden is like no other experience in the world and we couldn’t think of a better way to welcome tennis back to The Garden.”

The 19,000 plus fans in attendance on March 10 will witness the first time Federer and Sampras, arguably the two best tennis players of all-time, will face one another in the United States. While actively playing on the men’s professional tour, their paths crossed only once. The rare encounter took place during the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2001 and it was the young Swiss who captured the victory over the veteran Sampras.

This exceptional occasion will represent Federer’s debut at Madison Square Garden and will only be the second time Sampras has played in The World’s Most Famous Arena.

Dear Roger,

Love you, and love your amazing tennis. As I type this, I found out about your loss to A. Murray. Not relevant to you, but I'm always more disappointed when you lose to an opponent whose disposition I don't care for.

Just wish you woul

Wow, we can't wait to see you. We bought two extra tickets and then resold them for a 400% profit. You are one popular dude, Roger. Courtside seats cost a small fortune. We are really hoping you will come to MSG with a title from Dubai, but just the t

Well, hello mr. artful Roger Netjet Federer. Sounds like it's going to be showtime at Madison Square Garden. Reading this makes me think of the Los Angelos Lakers basketball teame whenever they played someone like the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan.

Roger, I do hope that all the praise has not gone to your head. I am really concerned that you are spending time on exhibition matches when your rivals are so close behind you. I really hope you keep your no 1 ranking and winning but I fear that you are

IMPORTANT: roger, good luck in the first round of dubai against murray; it's not the best draw in the world to start with but i know you'll start in style and clinch your 54th title by this time next week.
good luck and be powerful and offensive!

I think "TNC" has it right...i honestly don't see Roger winning in Dubai...he simply hasn't played enough tennis....i think Roger may be dropping the ball a little bit

Dear Rog, good luck and have fun against Pete. But all that comes after Dubai, so let's concentrate first on the matches that count. Any match in Dubai is more relevant than the one against Pete which is only for fun.
Kindest regards,
