Quarter finals in Miami

02.04.2008 | Tennis

Roger went on to reach the quarter finals with a victory over unseeded José Acasuso 7-6(5), 6-2 in the Masters Series tournament in Miami.

"It was key for me to serve well, especially in the beginning, and it was a good serving day today," Roger said. "I was very happy with it." Having lost only 10 points on serve, he will meet Andy Roddick next.

Our 2005 and 2006 Miami-champ made it through to his sixth Miami quarter-final on the back of his impressive service game against the Argentine world number 45. He reached the fourth round there last year, but was upset by Guillermo Cañas.

Kia Ora Roger,
Hard Luck against Andy today, but nonetheless a very well played game for you. This augurs well for your return to high quality competition and in particular for the future tournaments. Areas to fine tune would definitely have to be in ant

I think Roger is still warming up for the season. His game is improving after his illness, but rather slowly. I am hopeful he will still manage to pull through. He needs more of a game like today's to build his mental toughness again.

And Roddick's serve it's so big that is almost unhandleable. He could pull down a house with it.
But what is the most important i think that Roger's face was not so sad as after Dubai! I think that's the point.

Roger I could not get your match on TV but watched on live scoring and I am heartbroken for you that you lost to Andy. But forget it for now and go on to bigger and better things!!!!! I still think you are the very best and that you will do fine later on.

I think it's not a big thing, Andy Roddick played very good tonight. I think it's normal, Roger had lots of very nice shots! He had some mistakes too but everybody has. Roddick was on fire tonight i think but I'm not good at tennis, just love Roger.
