Roger eases through

Roger beat Victor Hanescu 6-3, 6-2 Thursday at the clay-court Estoril Open to advance to the quarterfinals. Our star broke his Romanian opponent once to take the first set and forced two breaks in the second as he completed victory in an hour.
"The rain really made it difficult today," Roger said. "It's a good test so far."
He now faces qualifier Joao Sousa or wildcard Frederico Gil, both of Portugal, in the last eight.
