Roger battles into semis

25.04.2008 | Tennis

Roger rallied from a set down to defeat David Nalbandian 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 Friday and advanced to the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

"This was my best match of the tournament. I was happy with my movement and the level of play was excellent," said Roger. "I could have served a little better but the statistics were good. David's a great player and a wonderful ball-striker. He has great movement and anticipation."

Nalbandian had won half of his previous 16 meetings with Roger, including the last two, and edged the first set without facing a break point. But Roger hit back in magnificent style, reeling off four games in a row to clinch the second set before sweeping to victory.

Roger will face Novak Djokovic in the last four.

gertruechic, I kept trying and I finally got that address you gave. Thanks much for this. I am glad Roger told the Djoko's to keep quiet. I hope they are proud of their idiot son. He is a disgrace to tennis. I wish I could have watched that match to hear

Just a correction on my earlier post. I wrote that the Djoker complained about breathing problems due to the dirt 'after the second set’, I should of course have said 'before the second set'.

Sweet Roger!

You did it again! Sorry, you were deprived of a victorious match point moment again. :( Now you will have more time to rest up for the show down with Rafa. I know you have it in you to beat him. You seemed very fiesty and charged up to

Congratulations Dearest Roger,

Since you defeated Nalbandian yesterday night, I'm afraid you would feel so tired today against Djoker, so I prayed for you everyday and during the match, till now, you played really amazing as your draw is so tough than

For those of you who understand French, here is a link to a Tsonga interview about his AO final against the Djoke. In this match, the Djoke's trick worked well. When he was out of breath he called the trainer in order supposedly for some pain in the leg

Yea, that ‘be quiet’ to his parents was really good. THANKS Roger for winning this match… FOR MANY REASONS of course, but especially for saving us from seeing Novak’s “King kong/Tarzan ritual” with “shirts off” at the end… What’s up with all that anyway?

It is really disappointing that you have Djokovic the benefit of a full match when you had mono and he couldn't give you a few more games because of "dizziness". I don't care how charming or funny fans and tennis outsiders find him. This guy is low rent.
