Roger sweeps into semis

16.05.2008 | Tennis

Roger cruised into the semifinals of the Hamburg Masters by beating Fernando Verdasco of Spain 6-3, 6-3 today.

"I think I played well today," Roger said. "Fernando is one of those players you have to be always very careful of. He was a little bit more predictable today but made less unforced errors. That was his choice of tactics - I'm not sure if it was the right one."

Keeping up his good form on clay, and still to drop a set, Roger clearly showed the better performance against Verdasco. Their first encounter had been three years ago in Hamburg, where the Spaniard had his right foot taped after taking a 3-2 lead in the second set and didn't win another game.

Roger will face Nicolas Kiefer or Andres Seppi in the semi-finals.

Willson, what a smart thought. I didn't even think of it that way, yes they can stay there for 3 hrs and that will make the winner, who would dfinitely be RAFA weaker to play Roger tomorrow and it will go in our favour by Roger winning. Perfect thinking.

That sounds like a real battle going on..... Damn it, and what do our TV channels do, those that condescend to have sports in their program? Broadcast WTA Rome or even some boring football... I can't believe it.

Djoko is pulling the crowd with every point he wins to help him convert a break point against RAFA. So sad to hiim vulnerable. He finally broke him, so what? Knowing RAFA he will fight to break back cos Djoker can't consolidate with his horsy face and goa

I do want Rafa to win, but I also wish that these two duke it out for at least 2 1/2 hours. That should soften up the winner for tomorrow.

It's not that easy to break RAFA, Djoker had 0-40 against Nadal but squandered it. Go RAFA
