Through to semis in four

04.06.2008 | Tennis

Roger rallied to defeat Fernando Gonzalez (CHI/ATP 25) 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4 and reach the semi final at his 16th consecutive Grand Slam event.

"There was a lot of pressure, he was hitting the corners and I didn't know exactly how I needed to play him," said Roger. "It's never easy against him, but I played a good match."

Roger had played a very shaky opening set, missing several easy shots while Gonzalez, using his powerful forehand but also making some surprising backhands down the line, took the lead. Our star, however, righted the ship in the second stanza and ultimately cruised to victory, with the help of 11 aces and five breaks.

Roger will play on Friday against the winner from Spanish fifth seed David Ferrer and flamboyant Gaël Monfils, final Frenchman in the home field.

What's going on here? Monfils is being coached by his box.

All Roger Fans,

You have to stop this kind of comments, like pokah22 did. This is a democratic website and everyone can write here what they want. Stop to blame with fans that do not support the way that Roger is playing, because they have their reason

He is done it -- he has 2 breaks. Needs to hold his serve, and break again to take the set 6-1

Another break for Roger, I told u guys that he plays better when he loses a set. Now he will play to go up 5-1 and if he gets another break to win the 3rd set, he will have advantage of starting the 4th set and being in the lead,. He is finally awake now,

Yes! Next break there.

It took a lot of rallies, volleys, Monfils rolling on the ground for Federer to consolidate his break. It's 3-1 now. Go Roger go, another break will do us good and we might as well be on our way to the 4th set. Roger is back to form now, keep it up and we

He needs another break here and should be able to hold his serve after that.
