55th title!

15.06.2008 | Tennis

Roger cruised to his fifth Halle Open title in Germany on Sunday, beating Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3, 6-4.

The victory sees the world number one extend his unbeaten run on grass to 59 matches just eight days before he begins the defence of his Wimbledon crown.

"I played great tennis all week. I didn't lose my serve once, which I don't think I've ever managed before in a tournament, so it's very special for me, and I'm really pleased about it," our star said.

"It's obviously a good omen to win here in Wimbledon, sorry, Halle -- the Wimbledon of Germany," he said, laughing.

Roger won Halle for the first time in 2003 — before going on to win his first Wimbledon title — and now has won 24 straight at the tournament, a streak dating back to that year.

Well the win was impressive espcially after Paris and its also nice to see u mix things up from the baseline and at the net.

Nadal won in Queens he is playing good tennis as well but i think he will not be able to maintain his level over 5 sets on gras

Well done at Halle Roger. Really great to hear you are winning again. Unfortunately we did not get the tournament on TV down here but you must have played really well. I look forward to watching Wimbledon even if my boss doesn't because I am up so late a
