The rain-interruption was longer than this first-round match itself (91 minutes), dragging on Roger's furious comeback. Roger’s superiority in the first set in figures: While Gaudio scored one point during a Federer-game Roger managed to score 19 on his opponent’s service. Gaston Gaudio seemed to admire Roger’s performance during this phase. The second set was a bit tighter as Gaudio successfully defended seven break-balls and won all of his service games up to the tie-break. Roger did not give him one single chance for a break and was perfectly on the safe side during the tie-beak.
