A Dream-Start
Roger has showed that he is right where he wants to be after his six-week break. He defeated French-Open champion Gaston Gaudio (Arg/ATP 10) 6:1, 7:6 (7:4) at the Tennis-Masters in Houston, Texas. The rain-interruption was longer than this first-round match itself (91 minutes), dragging on Roger's furious comeback. Roger’s superiority in the first set in figures: While Gaudio scored one point during a Federer-game Roger managed to score 19 on his opponent’s service. Gaston Gaudio seemed to admire Roger’s performance during this phase. The second set was a bit tighter as Gaudio successfully defended seven break-balls and won all of his service games up to the tie-break. Roger did not give him one single chance for a break and was perfectly on the safe side during the tie-beak.
