Roger and Stan move on

11.08.2008 | Tennis

Shortly after his successful first round into the Olympic singles tennis tournament Roger also made a good start into the doubles together with Stanislas Wawrinka. They won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.

Roger managed to lead the team very well, helping Stan over some difficulties during the starting phase. As both players found their rhythm in the second set Simone Bolelli and Andreas Seppi were not able to keep up. Roger leaped to whack an overhead slam on match point, sealing the victory over the Italians after 71 minutes.

Next up are the two top-players Dimitri Tursunow and Michail Youzhny who defeated Fernando Gonzalez/Nicolas Massu, the Olympic champions of Athens.

***Thanks to everyone for singles commentary...it was great to know that Roger did play well.
It is difficult to see this when all we have to watch is the live scoring. Hope to be able to watch quaters tomorrow...live hopefully!
