Roger and Stan move on

11.08.2008 | Tennis

Shortly after his successful first round into the Olympic singles tennis tournament Roger also made a good start into the doubles together with Stanislas Wawrinka. They won in straight sets 7-5, 6-1.

Roger managed to lead the team very well, helping Stan over some difficulties during the starting phase. As both players found their rhythm in the second set Simone Bolelli and Andreas Seppi were not able to keep up. Roger leaped to whack an overhead slam on match point, sealing the victory over the Italians after 71 minutes.

Next up are the two top-players Dimitri Tursunow and Michail Youzhny who defeated Fernando Gonzalez/Nicolas Massu, the Olympic champions of Athens.

Dearest Roger,

Congratulations for moving to the 3rd round. Just enjoy playing and keep going, though it must be so hot and humid out there.

Good luck in the doubles, too! You two look so cute, like brothers.

My very best wishes!

ck your message

It was a good practice match for Roger against an opponent he had never met before.
Roger did not look happy at time but I guess the conditions are not the best and he can get very upset with himself.

THe next match is very important. Berdych is the one who defeated Roger last tiem n Olympics.
Besides defeated former world No. 1 Hewitt(6-1,6-2) , and will play Andreev next.

It is good that Roger will play singles first then doubles ,so he is not
