A solid victory in the doubles

13.08.2008 | Tennis

Roger only had a few hours break after his victory in the singles competition before getting back on court for the doubles. Playing a most solid match, Roger and Stan qualified for the quarterfinal of the doubles competition with a 6-4, 6-3  victory over Dmitry Tursunov and Mikhail Youzhny.

The Swiss duo played a very good match and was able to improve the level of play throughout the game. They will take on Mahesh Bhupathi/Leander Paes of India in the next round – a rather difficult task. Roger had lost to them at the Athens Olympics four years ago together with Yves Allegro.

Sa

I never think Roger will make a comeback in 2009 , because all the matches he lost this year "including the FRENCH " he SHOULD NOT have lost !!!!

Like the rest of you, I concur, I really cannot watch tennis anymore until next year. Fed is washed out for this year. Is there a doctor advising him, giving him tests? or is he just ignoring thinking he's okay when he is not? Why does he look tired?

whbarney - well said. I totally agree with you. A total comeback at US Open is too close ahead. Since the pressure will be off Roger next year he can really surprise the defending champion and the new #1 at the Aussie Open. Roger carried the torch for a l

I'm here in Beijing and can only say that conditions here are tough for anyone. I saw Blake play Hrbaty the other night and they were hitting the daylights out of the ball compared to how Roger was playing against Aravelo in Round 2; they weren't hitting
