Round three
Roger extended his U.S. Open winning streak to 29 straight matches with a second-round victory against Brazilian qualifier Thiago Alves 6-3, 7-5, 6-4.
Our second seed was made to work by the unfancied world number 137, who allowed just four breaks of serve in the match, but the result was never in doubt as Roger cantered to victory in two hours and 14 minutes.
Roger is seeking his fifth straight victory at Flushing Meadows, something that was last achieved 1924 by Bill Tilden (USA). He looked in imperious form at times, firing 19 aces and 54 winners to quell the early enthusiasm of his opponent. But he also produced an uncharacteristic 46 unforced errors, especially with volleys and his forehand.
Roger will meet either Chris Guccione of Australia or 28th-seeded Czech Radek Stepanek in the third round.

Here's an excerpt from Roger's post-match presser:
"At the end of the day, what counts is winning the tournament. And anyway, you forget who you beat, how you won. You forget all the unforced errors you made, and all

We, in the US were also mortified that they cut to the Muller/Almagro match instead of showing the Fed match
Thanks for the message from Sheleo. What a shame these organizers are so strict about signs (just like the Beijing Olympics). Worried about political messages?
Anyway, it's great for Sheleo that she got to see this fantastic match l
My faith in humanity has been restored. Thank you so much for your response.
I am so happy because I was able to watch the match, or part of it honestly..I found your playing was amazing, like old Roger coming back.
You made wonderful backhands and serves, you played almost perfectly and took revenge fro
So, Roger played a great match today and we are worried still? And because of his previous match?
What has the Alves match got to do with this one? Even though I'm in an unbelievably great mood, I just have to say this: "Be quiet, okay?"
