Davis Cup

19.09.2008 | Tennis

Stanislas Wawrinka will open the Davis Cup encounter against Belgium in Lausanne (Switzerland) today. He meets Steve Darcis, ranked 58 in the world. The match starts at 1 p.m., Roger then plays Kristof Vliegen straight afterwards.

Stan and Roger will team up for the doubles on Saturday. They will face Olivier Rochus/Xavier Malisse if everythings stays as it is - changes in the lineup are still possible. Sunday's first singles match will most likely be Roger against Darcis, Stan will meet Vliegen to round off the event. The players of the two last matches can still be exchanged up until an hour before start of the matches.

Yeah, I've been trying to ignore the news from Spain. If anyone wants to see it, Versus is broadcasting both matches on tape delay now and TTC will rebroadcast in prime time at 8 (and it says 11, but will have to be 12).

Fans,

I forgot to say that Roger ran around two of those Vliegen shots in the last game to hit forehands, so I think he must be regaining his confidence in his bread and butter genius artiste stroke. Never mind his movement.

Hooray for Roger and for Switzerland. So they take a 2-0 lead into tomorrow's Fedrinka match.

My livestream stopped the second Roger won the match point and went up to the net to shake hands and hug Vliegen. Seemed very friendly.
