Switzerland meets the US
The Swiss Davis Cup team will play the United States in the first round of the 2009 Davis Cup competition (March 6-8, 2009).
The Swiss team gained promotion to the elite World Group last weekend after a one-year absence. The match in the US could feature the world's number one ranked doubles pair, the Bryan twins, against Roger Federer/Stanislas Wawrinka, who won gold in the doubles event at the Beijing Olympics.
The Swiss played three of the last ten encounters abroad, one of which - 2007 against the Czech Republic - they lost. The US team around Patrick McEnroe last won the Cup in 2007 and lost in this year's semi-final against Spain last weekend.
Severin Lüthi, the captain of the Swiss team, said it will be a difficult task against the USA, the 32-times-champion. "The Americans have a lot of strong singles players as well as the Bryan brothers, the leading doubles team in the world. But our team has chances against any other nation." Switzerland is the only team in the World Group next to the USA and Spain with two top-ten players.
The location of play is still open, but must be decided upon by December 16, 2008, according to the regulations of the International Tennis Federation.
The first round:
Argentina - Netherlands
Czech Republic - France
USA - Switzerland
Cratia - Chile
Sweden - Israel
Russia - Rumania
Germany - Austria
Spain - Serbia

Will you visit RF.com if you watch the match?
Fakovic will not hesitate to use his "winning tactics" if need be. Dont forget Thailand is another continent and I dont doubt for a moment that Fakovic is still the same. He did not dare using these kind of tactics against Roger but he cannot po
How sweet would it be if Jo could have his revenge! That would make me very happy. I wonder if there is a way to see that match, do you know?
At least, Jo now knows the Djoker's tactics from personal experience, so he will be read
thank you for the news on JW Tsonga. The AO rematch! I hope JW will win this match as he was robbed of the AO championship by the Djerko's "calling the trainer for sore throat" tactics. So go JW and wishing you the best.
