Roger withdraws from Stockholm

Roger announced today that he will not be participating in the Stockholm Open which starts next Monday.

 

"2008 has been a tough year for me as I was always playing catch up after being diagnosed with mononucleosis at the beginning of the year. I feel fortunate to be healthy again, but I want to remain at the top of the game for many more years to come and go after the #1 ranking again. In order to do that, I need to get a proper rest and get strong again so that I am 100% fit for the remainder of the year or next year. At this point, I am not sure when I will be ready to play again, but I hope to be back at some point before the end of the year. I apologize to the tennis fans in Sweden as I was looking forward to playing in Stockholm again. The country has produced so many incredible tennis players and the tournament has such a great history.  I hope to be able to come back at some point in the future."

to fedfanny...are you talking about Madrid... if so, Roger was beaten in the final by Nalby so he's defending 350 points. Djokovic too was beaten by Nalby in semi and Rafa in quarter. BTW what's IH????

I'm a bit surprised having heard that Roger would play Madrid but nothing's been said in his own website. Since he announced his withdrawal from Stockholm overhere, also said that he's not sure when he would be ready to play again, I expected to hear dire

to Nalbandian in the quarter final last year, you'll gain some pts. if you could reach to the
semi this year. But Nadal has more advantage

So many fans fuss over Roger's health and welfare like a bunch of clucking mother hens! It's really funny, but quite touching too, and I hope that if Roger ever reads any of it, he has a laugh but also feels very happy that so many people care so much abo

I thougt he would play in Madrid, because sometimes I go to the site of Marca, and there was any new about his absence...
I think Roger should have more rest, but I guess he decided to go there because he has many points to defend , and probably he will
