Roger’s remarkable achievements this year have been doubly recognised by the International Tennis Writers Association (ITWA) in their 2004 awards. Roger was unanimously voted Player of the Year by tennis writers and was also honoured with ITWA’s Ambassador for Tennis award for his efforts to promote the sport. The other players honoured were Sharapova, Mauresmo and Davenport. “Roger’s an extraordinary talent and what’s he’s achieved this year has been amazing, but he also works extremely hard with media and sponsors and that’s what makes him such a blessing to the game,” said Eleanor Preston, co-President of ITWA. “Few No.1s in the history of tennis have done such a good job off the court as well as on it. He’s truly a pleasure to write about.”
