Through in straight sets

17.10.2008 | Tennis

Roger'sbid to win the Madrid Masters remains on course as he downed 16th seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France in straight sets to clinch a quarter-final spot.

It was the the first time Roger and Tsonga faced each other. "It's hard to face a player you've never met before, that's why I worked a little bit harder at the beginning," our champ said. "It was like playing a box fight, he always hit first."

Roger proved too good for his younger opponent, beating the Australian Open finalist 6-4 6-1 in just over an hour. Now, he will clash against Juan Martin del Potro; they met twice, and our 13-time Grand Slam champion won both without dropping a set.

Keep on with it, Roger! Perhaps the youngsters are too nervous and uptight, but always be on your guard! You are the best player I have ever watched and I hope you can keep on playing the way you are right now!!!

***JEUX-SET-MATCH*** - I totally agree with your post on p. 12. Murray has the game to bother anyone with his vast variety of shots, speeds variation, and his incredible movement. Like you said, he's much better than his performance in UFO Final.

Welcome on the couch!!
Why the edge is because I have a great respect for Murray's intelligent game. The UFO final was not at all the real Murray. He got really nervous. A Master Serie 1/2 is another story.
The big plus is that Rogie is just m

Congratulation Roger on your 3rd win in Madrid. It seems that taking a good rest after the US open was a wise choice! And today especially you showed how a good tactician you are to out play Del potro geniusly.
