Roger out in Madrid

Roger lost to Andy Murray in semifinal in Madrid today. The Scot took revenge for his defeat in the US Open final in September: 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

 

“I think he's improved at his pace,” Roger said. “First he had to grow up a little bit, become a man; I think he's taken that step well and he seems much more relaxed on the court which I think helps him. He's still fiery, which he's supposed to be. I just think you've got to give the young guys time to learn. It's so much more fun to see them learning.”

 

Roger sealed the first set after a break in the fourth game. It was the first set that Murray had to drop in the tournament so far. Murray responded and clearly took the second set 6-3. In the decider the Scot sent down 10 aces and despite Roger saving six break points, his opponent broke in game 11 and served it out to 7-5.

 

Roger is now off to Basel where he has announced that he will be competing next week.

Rogi well done for making it to the semis. I'm proud of you even if you did lose today.
You had a really tough draw!!
I'm sure you will come back stronger. And Basel is the perfect place for you to do that!

Ooox noo Roger!I watch you today,again the same mistakes.You played first set very,very good.But other two not good.He played against you with Nadal's recept.He was five meters from baselane.You need to change something.First:If you are not feeling good,p

Its just a tournament champion, dont worry, many others will come and youll be even more prepared for those. In the mean while, rest the time you need to get yourself on Basel competition. Great game today, that keep it in mind, your mistakes also.

Well, I need to say the great tennis you played here during all the week. I missed it a lot since USO. It's a pity what happen today but don't worry next year will be better, you'll see.
