Roger out in Madrid

18.10.2008 | Tennis

Roger lost to Andy Murray in semifinal in Madrid today. The Scot took revenge for his defeat in the US Open final in September: 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.

“I think he's improved at his pace,” Roger said. “First he had to grow up a little bit, become a man; I think he's taken that step well and he seems much more relaxed on the court which I think helps him. He's still fiery, which he's supposed to be. I just think you've got to give the young guys time to learn. It's so much more fun to see them learning.”

Roger sealed the first set after a break in the fourth game. It was the first set that Murray had to drop in the tournament so far. Murray responded and clearly took the second set 6-3. In the decider the Scot sent down 10 aces and despite Roger saving six break points, his opponent broke in game 11 and served it out to 7-5.

Roger is now off to Basel where he has announced that he will be competing next week.

Along with Roger Nadal too was dumped out hehehe .... Well Murray was on fire... I guess Roger had to play second fiddle ..... Sorry Roger.. you had too many unforced errors ... If I am not mistaken, the courts were too fast... Anyway best of luck in Base
